20 Juni Nachruf von Aaron Ciechanover
I lost a dear friend. Gerald had a rare combination that a few of us have. First and foremost – his unbelievable ability to connect people from different areas of life, cultures, languages, and continents. He was the ultimate glue – generous as one can imagine, using friendship and smile as his working instruments. Then his love to the arts, and more so – to dynamic art that penetrates and mixes into peoples‘ hearts as they carry out their daily lives. Having lunch with actors and musicians is something one could enjoy only at the Einstein. And then, his passion to science – understanding that if used morally – it is the ultimate language of peace that aims at bettering human life. Last but not least – his food – the simplest but the best – keeping tradition and aesthetics, making dining yet another wonderful experience. His life story – the disease, his courageous combat – converting it into a tool to help others, his attitude to his family – will all remain with us as a guiding light. His memory will be with us forever.
